Job Summary:

The Payroll Processing Lead reports to the Payroll Processing and Integrations Manager. He/she is the SME for day-to-day payroll operations and the main point of contact for Payroll processing for the payroll outsourced service provider. He/she will work directly with the other payroll staff and other functional analysts as needed to support the department.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison between the Applied and 3rd Party Payroll provider with regards to day-to-day processing operations to include production of on and off-cycle payrolls
  • Work closely with HR staff to assure complete coordination of efforts and procedures with pay, deduction, and benefits information used for payroll production, tracking and reporting.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and federal and state regulations.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects with internal and external business partners.
  • Identify areas of improvement and provide requirements/solutions related to payroll as well as the payroll processing procedures for continuous improvement of the payroll department's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Effectively and proactively educate staff, business partners and employees on payroll related policies and procedures.
  • Direct Canadian payroll processing activities
  • Query/report development
  • Support SOX controls

Key Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax and payroll regulations in a multi-state organization and Federal and State wage and hour laws (FLSA).
  • Thorough knowledge of the end-to-end Payroll processes and service delivery model.
  • Strong analytical abilities, including the ability to identify and communicate trends.
  • Proven ability to build/maintain effective professional relationships and partnerships with all levels of the Company and third-party service providers.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and pressure situations and meet defined timelines.
  • Proven competencies, particularly in communications, presentations, multi-jurisdictional payroll, analysis and related decision-making, problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills, time management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Communication skills including ability to communicate with remote work force across the US.
  • Strong work ethic focused on producing results and adding value to the team and company.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and establishes strong working relationship with peers.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a major in accounting or finance or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll function in a complex, multi-state organization to include processing, payroll tax, timekeeping, wage garnishments, system implementation, reporting, and general ledger.
  • Experience in Workday Payroll Management System preferred
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with comprehensive outsourced payroll model preferred.
  • CPP or CPA preferred.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
