Job description

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Senior Payroll Coordinator to join our Phoenix office. The Senior Payroll Coordinator supports accurate, timely, and compliant bi-weekly payroll processing in a multi-state, multi-system environment. This role requires advanced Excel skills, strong written communication, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners. The Senior Payroll Coordinator plays a key role in payroll data integrity, audit support, and year-end processing while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and confidentiality.
Work Location, Schedule, and Travel Expectations
This position supports a hybrid work schedule. The standard expectation is three days per week working in the Phoenix office. After required training is successfully completed, the role offers the opportunity to work remotely up to approximately two days per week, based on business needs and performance. Occasional travel may be required in support of business needs, estimated at one to two trips per year.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform payroll data entry, maintenance, and validation across multiple systems.
  • Support bi-weekly payroll processing, including regular and off-cycle payrolls.
  • Process payroll transactions including new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, garnishments, and adjustments.
  • Review and validate timekeeping data and resolve exceptions prior to payroll close.
  • Support recurring payroll audits and data integrity reviews.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, reconciliations, and reporting support.
  • Partner closely with Talent Management, Benefits, Finance, and Administration to ensure accurate payroll inputs and downstream processing.
  • Use advanced Excel skills to support reconciliations, audits, and payroll reporting.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries with professionalism, clear written communication, and discretion.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with firm policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Career Development and Progression
This role is designed to provide progressive exposure to broader payroll operations. As proficiency is demonstrated through consistent accuracy, sound judgment, and strong cross-functional partnership, the Senior Payroll Coordinator may take on expanded responsibilities such as advanced audits, reconciliations, reporting support, process documentation, and complex issue resolution. Growth opportunities are based on business needs and individual readiness and are intended to support continued professional development within the payroll function.
Work Schedule and Overtime Expectations
  • Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
  • During payroll processing weeks, hours worked Monday through Wednesday are adjusted to support payroll close.
  • Overtime is a standard and expected part of the role during payroll processing weeks and peak periods.
  • Occasional weekend work may be required, aligned with payroll or year-end needs.
  • Overtime is compensated in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.

Requirements:
