General Position Summary
The Payroll Processor is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time, maintaining payroll records, and following established payroll procedures and policies. This role provides day-to-day payroll support by reviewing payroll data, processing routine transactions, and assisting with employee payroll questions.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process weekly and biweekly payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Review payroll data such as hours worked, pay changes, bonuses, and deductions for completeness and accuracy
  • Enter and maintain employee payroll information in payroll systems
  • Follow established payroll procedures, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements
  • Process garnishments, benefit deductions, and tax withholding updates
  • Review payroll reports, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues for resolution as needed before payroll finalization
  • Respond to routine employee questions regarding pay, taxes, and deductions in a professional manner
  • Generate standard payroll reports for internal use
  • Assist with audit requests by gathering payroll documentation and records
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance on employee data updates that affect payroll processing

Job Required Knowledge and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
  • 1+ years of payroll processing, payroll support, or related administrative experience preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll systems such as UKG, ADP, or similar platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic understanding of payroll procedures, tax withholding, and standard payroll practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to handle routine payroll questions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting payroll for hourly or multi-state employee populations
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment
