Job description

Job Title: Pastry Assistant

Location: Indian Hills Country Club โ€“ Mission Hills, Kansas

Department: Kitchen

Reports To: Pastry Chef

Job Summary:

The Pastry Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the pastry chef in the preparation and presentation of a variety of desserts and baked goods. This position involves assisting in the creation of high-quality pastries, cakes, and confections while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen. The Pastry Assistant will help with ingredient preparation, mixing, baking, and decorating, ensuring all items meet the Club's exceptional quality standards. A passion for baking and attention to detail are essential, as this role directly contributes to the overall dining experience for our members and guests. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong teamwork, creativity, and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create seasonal menus and prepare desserts for all outlets including banquet and ala carte.
  • Create and bake breads, cinnamon rolls, and lavash crackers for the restaurant and some events.
  • Decorate cakes and baked goods according to BEOโ€™s; to include occasion and wedding cakes.
  • Pre plate desserts for banquets.
  • Create baked goods for specific diets (gluten free, sugar free, etc.).
  • Inspect the quality of the ingredients and measure them for specific recipes.
  • Ensure that the kitchen equipment is in good conditions and meets all requirements.
  • Maintain Pastry Kitchen sanitation per health code.
  • Clean the equipment and utensils while maintaining the kitchen cleanliness and organization.
  • Ability to read, plan and work off of BEOโ€™s.
  • Ability to be creative and work with Catering Director on special themed events (ie. Golf, Easter, Halloween, etc.).
