Job description

Custom Software Systems Inc. is seeking an experienced Part-Time ADP Payroll Specialist to support our growing organization. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience administering payroll in ADP and understands the practical requirements of expanding payroll operations into new states.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can independently manage payroll activities, troubleshoot issues, and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. The right candidate will reside in a HUBZone.

Responsibilities

·       Process and administer payroll using ADP.

·       Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, tax elections, and other payroll information.

·       Process new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.

·       Set up payroll in a new state, including researching and coordinating applicable state payroll tax, withholding, unemployment, and employer registration requirements.

·       Coordinate with ADP to establish new-state payroll and tax accounts and ensure the state is properly configured in the payroll system.

·       Ensure accurate state and local tax withholding and reporting.

·       Review payroll reports and reconcile payroll data to identify and correct discrepancies.

·       Support federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and compliance.

·       Manage multi-state payroll requirements as the company expands.

·       Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, deductions, taxes, and pay statements.

·       Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation.

·       Maintain accurate payroll documentation and support internal and external audits.

·       Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and personal information.

·       Coordinate with HR, accounting, and management on payroll-related matters.

·       Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and controls.

Required Qualifications

·       Demonstrated hands-on ADP payroll experience.

·       Experience processing payroll from start to finish.

·       Experience with multi-state payroll.

·       Experience adding or implementing payroll in a new state, including state registration, tax setup, withholding, and payroll-system configuration.

·       Strong understanding of federal and state payroll requirements.

·       Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

·       Ability to work independently and manage confidential information.

·       Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience with ADP Workforce Now.

·       Experience supporting a small or growing government contractor.

·       Experience establishing payroll in multiple states.

·       FPC or CPP certification.

·       HRIS/payroll implementation experience..
