Position Overview


The Multiplatform Associate Producer is responsible for enterprising engaging and compelling content across WRAL’s digital, social, streaming, and broadcast platforms. The ideal candidate will have an intense passion and expertise for generating story ideas. Our position is based at the assignment desk and multi-tasking is needed to answer phones, monitor inbox, and listen to scanner traffic. The position will require working weekends and holidays. Applicants must be flexible with scheduling and will be asked to fill-in as needed.

We are searching for a candidate who is ready for a fast-paced, digital-first environment that requires consistent monitoring of news sources, focused research and an awareness of trending analytics. Our position needs a competitive journalist and innovative coverage coordinator who can assign crews, assist with newsgathering and explore story backgrounds.

The position is also responsible for writing and posting content to WRAL.com and our social media accounts. A proven ability to write quickly and accept feedback will be necessary. Strong writing skills, solid news judgment and a stellar sense of visual storytelling are essential skills.

Responsibilities

  • Write assigned stories for WRAL.com & TV newscasts daily
  • Pitch unique story ideas based off tips, call, research
  • Conduct in-depth research for potential stories
  • Gather extra information and conduct interviews beyond press releases
  • Craft compelling banners and headlines across all platforms
  • Clip video for all digital platforms, including YouTube.
  • Select video and sound for TV newscast stories.
  • Fill out graphics using newscast software
  • Train to fill-in produce.
  • Write, publish & send push notifications on stories for WRAL.com.
  • Organize assignment desk planner by inputting story information, events and contacts.
