Job Summary
International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) is looking for a creative and motivated University of Utah enrolled student to join our team as a Peer Assistant for Graphic Design & Content Creation. This role is perfect for students passionate about graphic design, storytelling, video production, digital marketing, and connecting with people. As a Peer Assistant, you'll help promote the events and programming of the office by sharing the stories of international students and highlighting the work of ISSS through creative designs, engaging social media content, photography, and video production. You'll also support our front desk team with clerical tasks and event assistance, gaining professional skills that blend marketing, content creation, and student services. This is a part-time, on-campus role (up to 15 hours/week) with opportunities for professional development, creative expression, and leadership.

Responsibilities
Social Media & Digital Content
  • Create and schedule photo, video, and written content to promote ISSS events, programs, and services.
  • Stay up to date on social media trends, platforms, and best practices.
  • Engage with followers by responding to comments/messages and connectingwith other campus accounts.
  • Track analytics and provide monthly reports with insights and recommendations.

Video & Storytelling
  • Plan, film, and edit creative videos in collaboration with ISSS staff.
  • Showcase student experiences, campus events, and ISSS initiatives through storytelling.
  • Ensure content aligns with University of Utah branding guidelines.

Front Desk & Administrative Support
  • Greet and assist students, staff, and faculty in the ISSS office.
  • Answer phones, emails, and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Provide clerical support (data entry, scanning, e-forms, filing) for immigration processes.
  • Assist with event preparation, tabling, and representing ISSS at campus events.

Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
  • Must be a current, enrolled University of Utah student.
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
  • Skills in graphic design, videography, social media management, or photography (Working knowledge with tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar is a plus).
  • Comfortable working both behind and in front of the camera.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills; enjoys working with people from multiple backgrounds.
  • Ability to work up to 15 hours/week, including occasional evenings or weekends.
