To thrive as a Part 135 Pilot, you need advanced piloting skills, a valid commercial pilot certificate with appropriate ratings, and substantial flight hours in relevant aircraft. Familiarity with aircraft-specific avionics, flight management systems, and regulatory requirements—including FAR Part 135—is essential. Excellent situational awareness, clear communication, and sound decision-making under pressure are crucial soft skills. These competencies are vital for ensuring passenger safety, regulatory compliance, and effective operation in diverse flying environments.

What are typical schedules and work environments like for Part 135 Pilots?

Part 135 Pilots often work variable schedules that can include nights, weekends, and on-call periods, since flights are frequently chartered or require flexibility to meet client demands.
