Job description

Department Overview

OREGON, Astoria. Oregon Health & Science University, (OHSU), is a leading health and research university that strives for excellence in patient care, education, research, and community service. Casey Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology at OHSU is recruiting a full-time Optometrist to work with our current group of faculty in Astoria, Oregon. 

This position will join an established and highly regarded University-based practice with clinical, research, and educational responsibilities, and will hold an academic appointment. It has a strong established referral base and an active surgical load. The group practice consists of 12 optometrists and 52 ophthalmologists offering sub-specialty services in cornea, vitreoretinal disease, ophthalmic pathology and oncology, uveitis and ocular immunology, glaucoma, oculoplastics, neuro-ophthalmology, low vision rehabilitation, and ophthalmic genetics.

Function/Duties of Position

Conduct medical and vision evaluations of patients at Casey Eye Institute.  Duties include providing routine eye examinations,  prescribing glasses and performing related eye care services.

Documents patient findings in the medical record per OHSU and CEI procedures and guidelines and communicates findings and recommendations to ophthalmologists. 

Serves as a resource for technician staff regarding patient refractive care and evaluation.  

Assists with professional education events and courses presented by ophthalmologists, optometrists and other allied health professionals. 

Completes required documentation such as case report forms; maintains patient records.

Required Qualifications

Requires a Doctor of Optometry degree,  and current Oregon licensure. 

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of a post-graduate clinical training program. 

Additional Details

This position is based primarily at the Casey Eye Institute in Astoria, Oregon. May require travel to other sattelite clinic locations as needed.
