The Staff Development Nurse / Risk Manager will be responsible for Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities, staff education, and risk management functions. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, those relating to resident/patient care practices, facility quality indicators, incident and accident investigations, grievance resolution, regulatory compliance, deficiencies cited by governing agencies, and development of plans of correction to address and respond promptly to identified quality and risk concerns.


Staff Development Nurse / Risk Manager Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate QAPI programs to ensure continuous quality improvement
  • Monitor and analyze facility trends related to clinical outcomes, incidents, and compliance
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations

Risk Management Responsibilities

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences; identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Track, trend, and analyze risk-related data to reduce liability and improve resident safety
  • Develop and implement risk prevention strategies and policies
  • Ensure timely reporting and documentation of incidents in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with leadership team to mitigate risks and improve overall facility safety

Residents' Rights

  • Promote and protect residents' rights, dignity, and well-being

Safety

  • Maintain a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors
  • Lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with infection control and emergency preparedness protocols

Staff Development

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct orientation and ongoing education for nursing staff
  • Ensure competency validation and continued professional development of staff
  • Provide education based on identified quality and risk trends

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
  • Utilize systems such as Excel, Word, and electronic medical records (e.g., PointClickCare)

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform additional duties as assigned or directed
Staff Development Nurse / Risk Manager Education & Experience
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current CPR certification
  • Long-term care experience required
  • Working knowledge of PointClickCare preferred
  • Experience as a Nurse Manager or in a leadership role preferred
  • Experience and/or training in Staff Development and Risk Management strongly preferred
