Job description

Primary Duties:
  • Design and develop glass products with a focus on the Cut, Break, and Grind (CBG) process.
  • Support glass development projects, assist program managers/project leaders in meeting project milestones, document development run results, plan and assist with improvement actions documented through run reports.
  • Collect, manage, and maintain the ongoing and historical process and tooling data necessary to identify process and machine tendencies, while applying lessons learned.
  • Identify process limitations and suggest necessary changes required to meet process capabilities.
  • Assist the program managers in planning and provide responses to all open issues regarding assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Act as engineering interface with plant process owners and outside vendors. Support engineering activities with internal and external customers as required.
  • Research and develop materials and suppliers for new products and processes.
  • Interface with OE Engineering team on part, tool, and process design including working with the Advanced Assembly team to ensure glass products work properly with their processes.
  • Assist plants with production of first sample parts for NMI programs.
  • Assist plants with support related requests as needed.
  • Provide support to the feasibility process, on new programs and engineering changes. This includes an understanding of the financial impacts and effectively communicating any lessons learned from previous projects.
  • Identify and communicate performance gaps and develop plans/proposals to bring projects to acceptable levels.
  • Maintain good verbal and written communications with program/project teams and plant teams.
  • Works within a team environment, to identify and resolve key process issues.
  • Work in compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Willingness to relocate to gain additional experience and knowledge from other NSG facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline, Material Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years minimum manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team skills.
  • Excellent computer and analytical skills.
  • Decision Making: Focus data analysis on the most relevant and important information without getting lost in the detail.
  • Influential: Builds rapport and makes a positive and credible impact.

Qualifications Desired:
  • Project management experience in the automotive industry (OEM/Tier1/2).
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning and GD&T.
  • Glass processing experience.
  • Blackbelt/Greenbelt certification.
  • Experience with CAD applications.
