Job Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Development Manager to join the Audio Video
Division in Indiana. The Product Development Manager is a key leader in bringing innovative products to market. This role offers the opportunity to guide a talented engineering and design team, shape new product strategy, and influence the full development lifecycle—from concept through launch. Working closely with product management, marketing, manufacturing, quality, sales, and customer service, this leader helps deliver high-quality, customer-focused products that drive business growth.

Responsibilities

Lead and inspire an engineering team through the full product development lifecycle, from idea generation and design through testing, qualification, and launch.

Drive projects forward by managing priorities, timelines, resources, and execution to deliver strong business and customer outcomes.

Coach, develop, and support engineers and designers, creating an environment that encourages growth, accountability, and innovation.

Partner across functions to ensure products are innovative, manufacturable, compliant, and ready for successful launch.

Champion continuous improvement, technical excellence, and a collaborative team culture aligned with company values.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field; advanced degree is a plus.

Minimum of 5 years of product development engineering

Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred:

Proven experience leading engineers or other technical teams, with strong project management skills across the product development lifecycle.

Solid understanding of mechanical systems, design for manufacturability, technical documentation, and 3D CAD tools.

Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with tools or processes such as SolidWorks, FEA, electrical or controls knowledge, regulatory testing, or ERP systems like SAP is highly valued.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

This role involves typical office and product testing activities, including sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and frequent computer use.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed for product testing or trade show support.
