Job Title: VP, Marketing Strategy (Urban Music)

A little bit about our team:

The Marketing department at Warner Records is the strategic engine of the label. We don't just disseminate information; we architect the global trajectory of our artists. Our mission is to develop avenues for market penetration through rigorous research, creative disruption, and front-line campaign leadership. From ideation to post-mortem, we are responsible for working with every department to develop integrated marketing plans that drive consumption, increase market share, and build global fandoms. In this role, you'll be at the heart of the action, collaborating with A&R, Digital, Sync, and Radio to turn artistic vision into a cultural movement.

Your role:

As the VP of Marketing Strategy, you will serve as the chief strategist for a diverse roster ranging from emerging talent to global icons. You'll leverage a deep understanding of the Hip-Hop, R&B, and Afrobeats landscapes to build distinct, competitive identities that cut through the noise. This is a high-visibility leadership role that requires a blend of creative intuition and data-backed decisiveness to turn artistic vision into commercial dominance. If you live for the "first-of-its-kind" idea and have the executive presence to lead high-stakes creative discussions, this is where you belong.

Here you'll get to:
  • Develop comprehensive marketing strategies that position our artists as global stars and differentiate them in a crowded marketplace.

  • Lead internal artist teams and management calls, ensuring that Digital, Sync, Radio, and Publicity remain perfectly aligned with the core strategy.

  • Create fluid, 12-month+ marketing plans and "Marketing Vision" documents that bridge the gap between signing and global commercial success.

  • Collaborate with Creative Services to ensure a consistent, compelling visual and narrative thread across every consumer touchpoint.

  • Constantly review real-time data to draw actionable conclusions, refining campaigns mid-stream to ensure we hit our OKRs and ROI goals.

  • Partner with Touring and live agents to ensure recorded music strategy and live performances work in perfect synergy.

  • Partner with Commerce to develop music streaming and physical product offerings that generate incremental revenue and deepen fandom.

  • Identify and lock in non-traditional partnerships across sports, lifestyle, and LGBTQ+ spaces to expand artist reach beyond music channels.

  • Take total accountability for global project budgets, ensuring spend is optimized for maximum market impact.

About you:
  • 8+ years of high-level marketing experience at a major record label, specifically within urban genres (Hip-Hop, R&B, Afrobeats).

  • Strategic powerhouse who doesn't just execute tasks but builds the blueprints for success from inception to global commercial dominance.

  • You enjoy the challenge of being data-informed but creative-led, drawing insights from numbers while protecting the integrity of the artist's vision.

  • Passionate about Urban music and culture, possessing the deep industry knowledge required to build authentic, competitive artist identities.

  • Proven executive presence to act as the primary liaison between artist management and the label, fostering relationships built on trust and ingenuity.

  • 4-year undergraduate degree (highly preferred) and a proven track record of leading successful, large-scale campaigns.

We'd love it if you also had:
  • Experience with advanced consumer analytics tools to identify untapped audience segments.

  • Existing deep-rooted relationships with international marketing partners and cultural influencers.

  • Experience or strong familiarity with A&R processes or creative direction to further bridge the gap between music and marketing.
