Job description

Temporary Clerical And Data Entry Position

The purpose of this temporary classification is to perform specialized clerical and data entry work in support of the Tax Assessors Office during the summer of 2026. The position is responsible for accurately entering, processing, verifying, and maintaining property related information and documentation within the department's computerized systems.

Hours for this position: Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM (approx. 40 hours per week). This is a temporary position during the Summer of 2026 and does not include benefits.

Essential Functions

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Establishes, maintains, and updates information in automated files, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Accurately enters, verifies, and updates data within computerized systems while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Maintains spreadsheets, tracking logs, listings, and other program or operational records.
  • Researches information in databases, spreadsheets, and electronic files and retrieves data in requested formats.
  • Performs basic mathematical calculations and verifies the accuracy of numerical data.
  • Prepares, organizes, and maintains departmental files, records, and documentation.
  • Retrieves files and documents upon request and researches records to obtain needed information.
  • Photocopies, scans, distributes, and files documents.
  • Requests information from other departments as needed to complete records and maintain accurate files.
  • Purges, archives, or shreds records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Operates a personal computer, telephone, copier, scanner, and other standard office equipment.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, database software, and other office applications necessary to perform assigned duties.
Additional Functions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; however, applicants who are currently enrolled in high school and on track to graduate may also be considered. Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to accurately enter and verify large volumes of data while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Level I proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational skills; the ability to quickly learn, retain, and apply new information with a high degree of accuracy and independence. Previous administrative support or data entry experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous data entry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately type and enter data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate (Level II) proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to sort, filter, format, use formulas, and maintain spreadsheets.
  • Basic knowledge of Georgia taxation process and terminology.
  • Experience working with electronic records management systems or databases.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
