WALLINGFORD FAMILY YMCA JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Member Services Associate Status: Part-Time
Reports to: Member Services Director Department: Membership
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Member Services Associate will provide excellent customer service to YMCA members. They will be well versed and educated on all facets of YMCA programs and services and will be able to articulate this information to new and existing members. The Member Services Associate, working as part of the Membership Team, will deliver professional customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. They will follow the practices of Living Our Cause and will exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA. The Member Services Associate will have solid communication, computer and customer service skills. Accuracy is of the utmost importance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Must be 18 years of age.
  2. Customer service background
  3. Computer literacy
  4. Certification in First Aid, CPR and AED with skills are required within 90 days of hire
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Member Services
  1. Deliver exceptional service by listening and responding to member and guest needs and resolving conflict or concerns effectively and professionally.
  2. Strive to know every member by name and maintain a positive, ongoing relationship with all members, guests, staff, and community partners.
  3. Record sales receipts, program transactions, and memberships in a timely, accurate manner. Handle financial transactions, including cash, with accuracy.
  4. Maintain timely, relevant knowledge of all YMCA programs and services in order to accurately inform customers of the services available.
  5. Check in and greet members and guests accurately and efficiently.
  6. Answer the telephone in a professional, courteous manner.
  7. Work with team members to encourage the use of YMCA services, programs, and membership opportunities.
  8. Support and contribute to a safe, clean environment for staff and customers.
  9. Uphold YMCA policies and procedures in a respectful, positive manner.
  10. Follow departmental procedure when requesting time off for vacation, illness or emergency. Arranges own coverage when planning to take time off.
  11. Assume other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
Member Services Community Partner Associate
  1. Welcome members as they arrive.
  2. Build authentic relationships with members at all YMCA managed Fitness Centers
  3. Maintains and cleans equipment and fitness center according to the site cleaning guidelines.
  4. Report any equipment issues to the supervisor.
  5. Maintain a safe and courteous environment for both your coworkers and Community Partners.
  6. Follow YMCA and Community Partner site policies and procedures for reporting and responding to emergency situations.
