As a member of the team, you'll assist with patient care, safely transport patients, support surgical staff, and help maintain a clean and safe environment. You'll also provide clerical support by answering phones, scheduling cases, maintaining records, and communicating with patients and staff.

Secretary/Nursing Assistant DetailsEssential Job Duties:
  • Provides courteous and compassionate support to patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Assists with patient care, transportation, positioning, and procedures as assigned.
  • Maintains patient safety, comfort, confidentiality, and infection-control standards.
  • Maintains a clean and safe patient-care environment.
  • Assists with Operating Room scheduling and maintains accurate records.
  • Answers phones, relays messages, and communicates information appropriately.
  • Pulls Surgical Records and maintains office supplies and department forms.
  • Serves as a liaison between the office, Operating Room, and other departments.
  • Prioritizes work and communicates with the Charge Nurse and Director/Manager as needed.
  • Follows hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates dependability, teamwork, initiative, and professionalism.
  • Participates in education and in service opportunities for continued growth.
Education, Training, and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Unit Secretary course or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous Unit Secretary or Ward Clerk experience desirable.
  • Previous Surgical Assistant experience highly desired.
  • Knowledge of medical/surgical aseptic techniques and infection control.
  • BLS required.
