Materials Supervisor - This position is to cover the added DTP C crew shift for February 2026

TITLE:  Materials Supervisor

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Material Handling Superintendent, the Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing inventory accuracy, material flow, and production support to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted manufacturing process. This role leads a team of Material Handlers and Hi-Lo operators, ensuring that parts and materials are staged correctly, inventory records are accurate, and production is fully supported. While the primary focus is on inventory and production operations, this position will also provide backup coverage for shipping and receiving as needed. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Inventory & Production Control   

  • Manage, monitor, and reconcile inventory in SAP to ensure accuracy and minimize variances.  

  • Oversee the staging of materials for production, ensuring correct quantities and locations to meet production schedules.  

  • Conduct regular inventory cycle counts and audits to maintain real-time accuracy.  

  • Implement process improvements to optimize material flow and reduce waste.  

  • Ensure compliance with Standard Work Instructions, 5S principles, and process audits in all material handling areas.  

  • Team Leadership  

  • Supervise and coach Material Handlers and Hi-Lo drivers, ensuring all required training and certifications are current.  

  • Manage Dayforce timekeeping, attendance, and performance evaluations for team members.  

  • Enforce safety policies and promote a safe work environment.  

  • Address performance issues, documentation, and disciplinary actions when necessary.  

  • Customer & Production Communication  

  • Coordinate with production leadership to ensure timely delivery of materials to the line.  

  • Maintain accurate communication with customers on inventory-related updates and any production-impacting issues.  

  • Shipping & Receiving (Backup Duties)  

  • Provide backup support for shipping and receiving operations, including processing inbound and outbound shipments.  

  • Verify shipment details such as blend numbers, rack numbers, and trailer numbers when covering shipping functions.  

  • Ensure ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) data is sent accurately and on time when performing shipping responsibilities. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum 5 years of inventory or warehouse supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably automotive/JIT.  

  • Experience with Ford systems (CMMS3, EDDL) is a plus.  

  • Forklift experience and valid certification preferred.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.  

  • Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Office, and basic computer skills.  

  • Knowledge of production processes, material flow, and inventory control.  

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
