Material Control, Manager I

Location: Whitsett, NC

Department: Material Management

Reports To: Logistics Manager

Hours: 1st shift - 6:30am to 3:00pm

Pay Range: $36.54 to $39.00 per hour

Employment Type: Contract to Hire

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly driven Material Control Program Manager to lead and optimize material flow, kitting execution, and inventory accuracy within a high-volume server manufacturing environment in Whitsett, NC. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining best-in-class kitting and inventory control processes that support production efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

· Lead end-to-end kitting and inventory control strategy for server manufacturing operations.

· Develop standardized processes for material staging, kit build, replenishment, and line-side delivery.

· Drive cross-functional alignment between Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering.

· Manage continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, accuracy, and cost control.

Inventory Control & Accuracy

· Maintain cycle count programs and ensure inventory accuracy targets are met or exceeded.

· Analyze root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

· Oversee ERP/WMS material transactions and system integrity.

· Monitor and report KPIs including inventory turns, shortage rates, and kit completion metrics.

Operational Excellence

· Implement lean principles and 5S standards within kitting and warehouse areas.

· Optimize material flow to reduce touchpoints and minimize waste.

· Ensure compliance with ISO, audit, and internal control standards.

· Lead process documentation and SOP development.

Team & Stakeholder Management

· Mentor and support supervisors, leads, and inventory analysts.

· Collaborate with Procurement and Planning on material availability and risk mitigation.

· Support production ramp-ups, new product introductions (NPI), and engineering changes.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

· 5+ years of experience in manufacturing logistics, kitting, or inventory control.

· 2+ years of program management or leadership experience.

· Experience in high-volume manufacturing or high-volume distribution (server, electronics, or similar preferred).

· Strong ERP/MRP system experience (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.

· Demonstrated experience driving process improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

· PMP certification or Lean/Six Sigma certification.

· Experience in server or electronics manufacturing.

· Knowledge of SAP or SAP S4.

· Familiarity with ISO or audit-controlled environments.
