Job description

Objective of job:

The Senior Material Control Supervisor leads material planning, inventory control, and logistics operations to ensure uninterrupted production and on-time customer delivery. This role oversees material flow, transportation, warehousing, shipping, and inventory while driving cost efficiency, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Principle Activities:
  • Lead and develop material control and logistics team members.
  • Ensure material availability to support production and customer requirements.
  • Manage inventory levels, material planning, and supply chain activities.
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, warehousing, transportation, and interplant logistics.
  • Monitor KPIs, inventory accuracy, delivery performance, and logistics costs.
  • Support product launches, phase-outs, and supply chain improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Manage departmental performance, staffing plans, and budget objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, safety standards, and annual inventory processes.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and corporate logistics teams to resolve issues and support business objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 6-8 years of automotive manufacturing experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in logistics, material control, or supply chain management.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management, material planning, logistics operations, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) preferred.
  • Experience in automotive JIT/JIS manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of SAP or other logistics management systems.

Success in this role is measured by material availability, inventory accuracy, on-time delivery performance, cost control, safety compliance, and team development.
