Job Summary

Administer and reconcile the cycle inventory program, reviewing and monitoring inventory levels for various programs and maintaining record integrity. Maintain the safe, effective/efficient utilization of all Materials Management resources including personnel, equipment, facility, automated and/or computerized systems/infrastructures.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise the receiving, warehousing, issuing and distribution of all direct and indirect materials used in the repair and direct support of the maintenance of rolling stock equipment as well as the logistical support of the Maintenance of Way operations for the Amtrak system.
  • Review and monitor inventory levels and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Implement and facilitate Corporate Policy/Procedures relative to all aspects of the material function, including scheduling, shipping, receiving, distribution, expediting, managing the warehouse and all warrantee programs relative to Amtrak.
  • Interface with customers, vendors, department employees and other related parties.  
  • Assist the Manager in training of Exacta, SAP, Safety, CFR-49.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 6 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with SAP EWM. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of SAP/Ariba, or an equivalent system
  • Thorough understanding of materials management, warehouse inventory control and planning distribution environment. 
  • Understanding of cycle counts and methods to maintain and improve location and inventory validity and accuracy
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of replenishing inventories and minimizing out of stock items needed to repair equipment or for programs to maintain the highest service level attainable in support of maintenance of equipment and maintenance of way
  • Strong familiarity of Corporate policies and procedures including safety, materials management and DOT (CFR49 requirements
  • Ability to supervise agreement employees in accordance with collective bargaining agreements to ensure compliance with the applicable labor contract
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, problem solving and presentation skills to guide and support members of the assigned unit in achieving goals consistent with departmental and corporate programs 

The salary/hourly range is $84,900.00 - $110,052.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. 1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
