Job description

Job Title - Organizational Learning & Development Consultant
Location – Detroit , MI
Contract -  07/09/2026 to 06/02/2028
The Organizational Development & Learning Consultant partners with business leaders to assess performance needs, design and develop learning solutions, and deliver targeted interventions that improve organizational effectiveness and employee performance.
This role integrates instructional design, performance consulting, and facilitation to create scalable learning experiences across multiple delivery methods, including instructor-led, virtual, and digital formats.
Key Accountabilities - Performance Consulting & Needs Assessment
• Assess organizational and job performance needs; identify root causes of performance gaps and determine appropriate training and non-training solutions.
• Partner with business leaders to define performance outcomes, learning objectives, and success measures.
• Provide consultation to leadership on performance improvement strategies and organizational development initiatives.
Instructional Design & Development
• Design and develop performance-based learning solutions using structured methodologies (e.g., Systematic Approach to Training).
• Develop content across multiple formats, including:
o Instructor-led training (ILT)
o Virtual instructor-led training (VILT)
o eLearning and web-based content
o Job aids, toolkits, and leader/employee resources
• Create facilitator guides, participant materials, and supporting tools to enable effective learning transfer.
• Ensure learning solutions are aligned to enterprise priorities, operational goals, and performance requirements.
Facilitation & Delivery
• Facilitate engaging and effective learning sessions, workshops, and team interventions for leaders and employees.
• Lead group discussions and sessions that support leadership development, team effectiveness, and organizational alignment.
• Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on applying learning and improving performance.
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
• Develop and apply evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness of training and performance interventions.
• Continuously analyze program outcomes and recommend enhancements to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
• Maintain knowledge of current learning technologies, instructional design practices, and performance improvement methodologies.
Project & Program Management
• Manage multiple learning and development initiatives, including scope, timeline, stakeholders, and deliverables.
• Utilize standard project management tools and practices to effectively manage workstreams, risks, and dependencies
• Track progress against established plans and provide regular updates to stakeholders on status, milestones, risks, and outcomes
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors as needed to deliver high-quality solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field
• 5+ years instructional design, facilitation, and consulting experience
• Experience with multi-modal learning delivery
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in OD, I/O Psychology, or related field
• Experience with change management and evaluation frameworks
