About the role

We are looking for a Scheduler, Surface Mine Maintenance to support the Maintenance Planning & Scheduling team at Rio Tinto Kennecott.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in supporting one of the world's largest open-pit copper mining operations. Working within Surface Mine Maintenance, you will help optimize the performance and reliability of critical mobile mining equipment, including production shovels and blast hole drills. By coordinating maintenance activities, balancing resources, and developing practical maintenance schedules, you will directly contribute to safe operations, improved equipment availability, and operational efficiency. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with maintenance teams, operations, contractors, and technical specialists while building expertise in maintenance planning, scheduling, asset management, and continuous improvement within a world-class mining environment.

Reporting to the Superintendent, Maintenance Planning & Scheduling, and working collaboratively with operational and functional teams, you will be responsible for:

  • Improving productivity by eliminating delays and obstacles to efficient work execution

  • Developing weekly maintenance plans with resources, estimates, and materials identified

  • Ensuring safety requirements are prioritized in all maintenance plans

  • Providing KPI reporting and maintenance performance analysis

  • Managing resource-loaded Microsoft Project schedules

  • Supporting maintenance budgeting activities and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Coordinating with maintenance crews, operations teams, contractors, and stakeholders to support effective work execution

  • Supporting safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance activities for Surface Mine Maintenance assets, including production shovels and blast hole drills
