Overview
The Machine Operator (MO) is responsible for running a digital press/copier, wide format printer and Colex flatbed cutter. The MO will also operate mail machines, pallet jacks, lift trucks, paper cutters and mail systems including UPS and USPS (domestic and international). Also provide reporting to internal teams on print jobs and coordinate machinery maintenance. Assist internal teams with on-site physical projects and responsibilites.
Responsibilities
Mail/Printing:
โ€ข Complete in house mail distribution, packaging of boxes and delivery of mail to local post office via company issued van
โ€ข Safely operate all equipment in both print/ship shops (imager, cutters, binders, postage machines, and folders)
โ€ข Ensure UPS address are accurate for shipping
โ€ข Check for EPS debits
โ€ข Handle creation of binders.
โ€ข Process and maintain accounting reports and update inventory spreadsheets. Maintain yearly book of all jobs completed in shipping and printing
โ€ข Process trade show large shipments
โ€ข Handle the paper delivery (lift up to 50 pounds) within the campus
โ€ข Keep inventory of all supplies, boxes, UPS label holders, ink, bubble wrap, tape, comb binders, paper, and blank envelopes. Order when quantities get low or additional items are needed for mailings/meetings

Equipment:
โ€ข Keep track of equipment maintenance, including scheduling vendor maintenance. Produce a yearly maintenance tracking system for all equipment
โ€ข Perform maintenance on all equipment in both shops. Keep track of when maintenance agreements expire and work on obtaining replacement contracts when needed
โ€ข Update the equipment safety manual
Internal Support:
โ€ข Assist other teams with special projects and provide on-going support as needed, including Production and Graphic Design, Marketing, Corporate Displays, Editorial, and Building Engineering
Local Deliveries:
โ€ข Complete regular, local deliveries/pick-ups and company van appointments
Overall Responsibilities:
โ€ข Ensure quality control on work, including proofing work before passing it along for supervisor's review
โ€ข Manage downtime and communicate to Supervisor when additional work is needed
โ€ข Work closely with designers, internal business teams and vendors on projects
โ€ข Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
โ€ข High School Diploma required.
โ€ข 2 to 4 years' experience with at least 2 years of shipping and printing experience required.
Skills
โ€ข Strong communication skills and have a service-oriented approach with all levels of the organization.
โ€ข Excellent customer-service skills with internal teams and external contacts.
โ€ข Mastery knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word and Excel).
โ€ข Must have excellent quality control skills.
โ€ข Knowledge of finishing equipment is recommended.
โ€ข Must be able to trouble shoot copiers and equipment.
โ€ข Must work well in a team environment, including creatively on print assignments with designers and other team members.
