Mail Handlers and Mail Clerks both work in postal environments and require similar credentials. Mail Handlers typically work in sorting facilities handling large volumes of mail, while Mail Clerks often work in post offices managing administrative tasks. Both roles are essential in postal operations but differ mainly in work setting and specific duties.
A mail handler sorts and processes mail for a company or the United States Postal Service (USPS). Mail handlers who work for private companies are responsible for checking incoming mail, sorting them by department, and ensures the documents and packages get to the correct person in the organization. Those working for USPS are required to unload mail containers, sort mail into the appropriate delivery sacks, repack damaged packages, and transport mail to distribution areas. A mail handler plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all mail is delivered to the right location.
