Job description

We are currently seeking a Logistics Supervisor with an opportunity for development in international logistics to join our team of professionals in our Glen Burnie, MD location.

Job Summary:

The Logistics Supervisor will be responsible for managing the daily shipments in arranging international shipments and projects of high value specialty vehicles to/from numerous destination while excelling at meeting customer expectations. The qualified candidate will be an energetic person, ready to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment and will have assignment that can be moderately complex in nature.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate trucking rates and handle costs. Communicating with the carriers to get the rate requests, if necessary.
  • Coordinate with the Ocean Carriers/ Port processors to move the cargo by ocean and air in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Arrange the freight and customs releases.
  • Obtain the necessary information to provide excellent customer service from overseas, steamship lines, truckers, terminals or wherever it is relevant and inform the customers effectively on a daily basis.
  • Plan the most appropriate route for a shipment, cost, transit time and security of the cargo.
  • Follow the general guidelines for international trade, handle or follow the AES filings, insurance and other tasks which are related to that shipment.
  • Maintain involvement with the bookings from overseas, approve them and depending on the customer requirements, you will get involved with purchase order follow up.
  • Serve as the ultimate contact for the customers and guide them during operational flow and make sure their freight moves efficiently through complex procedures.
  • Monitor and coordinate the progress of each shipment daily to ensure that appropriate and timely communication is provided to the customers, carriers, and overseas offices regarding discrepancies, changes, or any issues that may directly affect the shipment and operations.
  • All other duties assigned
  • Participate and assist pricing requests from current clients.
  • Manage Logistics team to ensure all concerns are addressed and assist management in developing team members.
  • Assist Operations Manager in ISO 9001: 2015 requirements to ensure compliance
