About the Opportunity

A growing Food Distribution Center in Virginia is seeking an experienced and motivated Logistics Supervisor to join its team. The Logistics Supervisor will oversee daily logistics and warehouse operations, ensuring products and materials are received, stored, picked, staged, and shipped accurately and efficiently.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience in warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, inventory management, and team supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead daily logistics and warehouse activities.
  • Coordinate receiving, storage, picking, staging, and shipping operations.
  • Ensure orders are processed accurately and shipped according to customer requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with cycle counts and inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving schedules with carriers, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed for all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Monitor warehouse productivity, accuracy, and operational performance.
  • Assign daily tasks and responsibilities to warehouse and logistics employees.
  • Train, coach, and develop team members to meet productivity, safety, and quality standards.
  • Monitor employee attendance, performance, and adherence to company policies.
  • Address operational issues and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and organization of food products and materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
  • Ensure employees follow all required safety, sanitation, and PPE procedures.
  • Work closely with management to meet shipping, logistics, and operational goals.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, inventory accuracy, shipping accuracy, and on-time shipments.
  • Assist with resolving shipping discrepancies, inventory issues, and other logistics-related concerns.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend process improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse, distribution, shipping/receiving, or supply chain operations.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
  • Experience working in a food distribution, food manufacturing, or temperature-controlled environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse and logistics processes.
  • Experience with inventory control and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support business operations.
  • Forklift experience/certification is a plus.
