Description
The Warehouse & Logistics Manager is responsible for leading our warehouse and logistics operations, including warehouse performance, inventory management, transportation, freight management, third-party logistics providers, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position ensures finished goods are received, stored, managed, and shipped safely, accurately, efficiently, and in support of customer requirements and company objectives.
The Warehouse & Logistics Manager provides leadership to the Warehouse Supervisor, establishes warehouse operating standards, manages transportation and third-party logistics partnerships, monitors warehouse and freight performance, and collaborates closely with cross-functional departments to ensure warehouse and logistics operations support the organization's overall success. This position serves as the operational partner to the commercial organization by ensuring customer commitments can be executed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while supporting customer satisfaction, delivery performance, and future business growth.
Essential Job Functions:
Safety
  • Maintain warehouse safety and security across all warehouse operations, transportation activities, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Ensure warehouse operations comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and established material handling practices.
  • Promote a culture of safety through leadership, accountability, coaching, and continuous improvement.
  • Review safety performance, incident trends, equipment concerns, and corrective actions to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Environmental Health & Safety to implement corrective actions and improve safety performance.
  • Inspect warehouse conditions, storage systems, docks, forklifts, trailers, and material handling equipment to ensure safe operation and recommend maintenance, repair, or replacement as needed.
  • Evaluate warehouse layouts, storage methods, equipment, and logistics processes to improve safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor safety performance and implement corrective actions to achieve a safe work environment with a goal of zero injuries, while fostering a proactive culture of hazard identification, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Leadership and Organizational Development
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the Warehouse Supervisor while supporting the continued growth of Warehouse Team Leads and warehouse personnel.
  • Plan, organize, and direct warehouse operations through subordinate leadership to ensure operational objectives are achieved.
  • Establish departmental goals, operational expectations, and employee development plans aligned with company objectives.
  • Ensure warehouse personnel timecards and annual performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
  • Partner with Human Resources regarding recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, succession planning, employee development, performance management, corrective action, and employee relations.
  • Promote professionalism, accountability, communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout warehouse operations.
  • Ensure onboarding, training systems, standard work, and leadership development remain effective and consistently executed.

  • Develop and implement warehouse and logistics strategies that support customer requirements, operational efficiency, and company objectives.
  • Direct warehouse and logistics operations, including receiving, storage, inventory movement, order fulfillment, shipping, transportation, and material flow.
  • Supervise warehouse performance through the Warehouse Supervisor, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
  • Establish operational standards governing receiving, storing, handling, inventory management, shipping, transportation, and warehouse operations.
  • Ensure finished goods are received, stored, transferred, picked, shipped, and delivered safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Monitor inventory levels, warehouse capacity, and storage utilization to maintain finished goods inventory accuracy of 99% or greater while supporting customer demand and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Customer Service to ensure customer delivery commitments are achieved through effective warehouse planning, inventory management, and transportation execution.
  • Develop recovery plans for shipment delays, inventory shortages, or transportation disruptions that may impact customer commitments.
  • Implement customer-specific shipping requirements, routing guides, labeling standards, and logistics expectations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with transportation providers, carriers, and third-party logistics partners to ensure dependable, cost-effective service while achieving 95% or greater on-time shipment performance.
  • Analyze transportation methods, routing, carrier performance, freight expenditures, and logistics activities to improve service, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Resolve transportation, logistics, inventory, warehouse, and customer service issues affecting operational performance.
  • Evaluate warehouse equipment, storage systems, vehicle fleets, and material handling equipment while recommending maintenance, repairs, replacements, or capital improvements.
  • Support future warehouse expansion, additional storage locations, and third-party logistics partnerships as business needs evolve.
  • Develop contingency plans that minimize operational disruptions and maintain business continuity.
  • Support new product launches and customer programs by coordinating warehouse readiness, inventory availability, transportation planning, and distribution requirements.
  • Develop a high-performing warehouse leadership team through coaching, accountability, succession planning, and employee development to ensure organizational readiness and sustained operational excellence.
  • Ensure customer commitments are supported through accurate order fulfillment, inventory availability, effective transportation planning, and responsive issue resolution.

Quality, Inventory & Process Control
  • Establish and maintain standardized warehouse and logistics procedures governing receiving, storage, inventory control, shipping, transportation, and material handling.
  • Develop, document, implement, and continuously improve warehouse operating procedures, emergency response procedures, and standard work.
  • Ensure ERP transactions, warehouse documentation, shipping records, inventory controls, and logistics records are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Review inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, customer complaints, and operational trends to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor warehouse operations to ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, environmental procedures, and applicable regulations.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on warehouse flow, inventory control, freight efficiency, customer service, and operational performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional departments to improve warehouse and logistics processes, enhance operational efficiency, and support customer satisfaction.

Logistics Planning & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop warehouse and logistics plans that support current operations, customer requirements, and future business growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to integrate warehouse and logistics operations with overall business processes and support organizational objectives.
  • Prepare reports for senior leadership regarding inventory accuracy, shipping performance, freight costs, warehouse capacity, customer service metrics, safety performance, productivity, and continuous improvement activities.

Requirements
Required PPE
  • Safety glasses are always required while in all company production facilities. In designated areas, foam-lined safety glasses are required.
  • Steel-toed boots with accompanying or built-in metatarsal guards are required.
  • Kevlar cut-resistant gloves and sleeves are required when using an open blade.
  • Any additional PPE required by the task, department, or company policy

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Required to work onsite 100% of the time.

Travel
  • Travel will be required twice per quarter to third-party logistics providers.

Required

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in warehouse, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience supervising employees in a warehouse, logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing inventory control, shipping, receiving, transportation, freight, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience using ERP or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to manage inventory and warehouse transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and improving warehouse processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or equivalent.
