Job description

Job title: Warehouse Manager

Work Location: Tempe AZ

Division/Department: Operations

Reports to: Director of Operations

This is a five employee warehouse that is one of nineteen other branches within a bigger company. We are looking for someone who enjoys work, embraces continuous improvement, and can lead a small group to succeed. Workdays are Monday through Friday (we close at 5pm and closed on weekends).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

You must perform routine warehouse duties, including ordering, maintaining, and distributing materials, parts, supplies, tools, and equipment required for the branch’s functions.

· Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor

· Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures (which includes hazard and safety standards)

· Receives and unpacks materials, supplies, parts, tools, and equipment; verifies articles received against packing lists and purchase orders.

· Inspects materials, supplies, tools, and equipment received for quality and quantity; stores materials received or delivers to the proper person or stock location

· Uses software and paper documentation to pick and process outgoing material (orders)

· Ability to properly package outgoing material for safe shipment

· Prepares various reports to assist in monitoring and evaluating warehouse operations

· Maintains a clean, safe, and unobstructed work area

· Maintains accurate records, files, and inventory control

· Operate a variety of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, and related equipment; drives delivery trucks; checks, fuels, and performs minor maintenance service on trucks and warehouse equipment

· Learns and applies emerging technologies and, as necessary, to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.

· May cover daily responsibilities of other warehouse staff on an as needed basis to ensure effective daily operations and delivery of services

As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

Skills and Qualifications

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers and salespeople

· Decent computer proficiency (Excel and Outlook)

· Basic mathematical principles

· Understand and follow oral and written instructions

· Follow department policies and procedures related to assigned duties

· Storekeeping and warehousing methods, types of parts, supplies, tools, equipment, and materials commonly used at the branch

· Must be able to work under pressure, while maintaining a cheerful outlook and providing exemplary customer service

· Ability to work independently and to conduct assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

· Forklift and order picker experience preferred

· Use RF guns to pick, store, and move product

· Safely operate a variety of warehouse machines and equipment.

· Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing

· Organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines

· Understand scope of authority in making independent decisions

· Review situations accurately and determine appropriate course of action using judgment according to established policies and procedures

· Be meticulous with all aspects including the final product quality

Safety

· Complete all company training classes and documentation

· Comply with all safety rules and regulations

· Wear appropriate PPE (personal protection equipment)

· Inspect workplace for hazards (fix and/or report to supervisor)

Physical Requirements

Must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and work with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory, to operate a motor vehicle and forklift; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or email. The job involves walking and working on slippery surfaces. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment.

Environmental Elements

Employees primarily work in the warehouse, and they are exposed to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, chemicals, mechanical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

Certifications:

· Possession of or ability to obtain a Forklift Operator's Certificate by end of probationary period

Management Responsibilities

Meticulously coordinated manager is to encourage the safe and fast actualization of delivery-related goals. Warehouse management should review shipping documentation, unload the merchandise, and execute local deliveries. You should also direct cleaning activities.

· Compiling and inspecting shipping-related documentation.

· Unloading incoming shipments and reviewing their contents.

· Packing stock in a meticulously organized and secure fashion.

· Preparing outbound shipments ahead of delivery times.

· Driving merchandise to our regional clients.

· Monitoring inventory levels to gauge organizational needs.

· Directing and conducting routine warehouse cleaning tasks.

· Ensuring workers' adherence to stipulated safety-related protocols.

· Execute Supervisors tasks and expectations

· Cultivate a learning environment

· Help develop plans for betterment of the process, system, or layout
