Shipping Manager Assistant

First Shift

$22.00-26.00 /HR

Position Summary

The Assistant Shipping Manager supports the Shipping Manager in the day-to-day coordination and execution of all outbound freight operations at our Clearwater, FL facility. This role plays a key part in ensuring that finished goods, components, and equipment are correctly packaged, documented, and shipped to customers and distribution partners on time. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Shipping & Order Fulfillment

•       Working with the Shipping Clerk(s) to create or use existing packaging materials to properly pack items to ensure that the products arrive securely at their destination.

•       Assist in the physical preparation of all outbound shipments, which include the physical building custom shipping crates, boxing products, wrapping, and staging the equipment for freight pick up.

•       Verify outbound orders against packing lists, sales orders, destinations, freight methods listed and or routing guide for accuracy prior to shipment.

•       Coordinate with freight carriers (LTL, FTL, parcel, and international) to schedule pickups and ensure on-time delivery.

•       Generate and process shipping documents including bills of lading, packing slips, commercial invoices, and export documentation.

•       Apply shipping labels and ensure proper marking, packaging, and crating of outbound goods.

•       Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates to internal teams and customers as needed.

Warehouse & Inventory Support

•       Assist in maintaining an organized and efficient shipping/staging area in compliance with 5S standards.

•       Support cycle counts and physical inventory audits as directed.

•       Coordinate with production and Quality Department ensure finished goods are staged and ready for shipment.

•       Process completed return merchandise authorizations (RMAs) to return to customer.

Documentation & Systems

•       Enter and maintain shipment data accurately in the ERP/WMS system.

•       File and maintain shipping records, carrier contracts, and freight invoices.

•       Assist with freight claims documentation and follow-up with carriers on damaged or lost shipments.

•       Support compliance with export regulations and hazardous materials shipping rules as applicable.

Team & Administrative Support

•       Assist the Shipping Manager and Traffic Manager with scheduling, workload coordination, and daily prioritization.

•       Communicate with customer service, sales, and production teams regarding shipment status and urgent orders.

•       Step in to support receiving functions during peak periods or staffing shortages.

•       Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and facility procedures.

Qualifications

Required

•       High school diploma or GED; equivalent experience considered.

•       1–3 years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics operations, preferably in a manufacturing for industrial products.

•       Tools: Electric staple gun, hammers, nail guns, screwdrivers, measuring tape. Any tools that will be used to prepare items for shipping.

•       Familiarity with freight documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, and commercial invoices.

•       Basic computer skills including data entry; experience with ERP or WMS systems a plus.

•       Strong attention to detail and accuracy in verifying and documenting shipments.

•       Ability to lift to 50 lbs. repeatedly and stand/walk for extended periods.

•       Reliable, punctual, reliable transportation, and team-oriented with a positive, eager-to-learn attitude.

Preferred

•       Experience with LTL, FTL, parcel, and international freight carriers and shipping platforms.

•       Familiarity with export compliance or hazardous materials shipping requirements.

•       Forklift certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

•       Experience/knowledge of electronics, Low & Medium Voltage Soft Starters, motor protection products, industrial manufacturing.
