Snow Area Manager/Operations Manager
Lucia Landscaping - Roseville, MI

Lucia Landscaping, a nationally recognized leader in snow management and one of Crain’s "Coolest Places to Work" in 2024, is seeking a Snow Area Manager/Operations Manager to join our award-winning management team for the upcoming winter season. We are a Top 100 Snow Contractor in the U.S. and are known for our commitment to excellence and employee satisfaction.

As a Snow Area Manager/Operations Manager, you’ll oversee snow removal crews including shovel teams, plow truck drivers, and heavy equipment operators within a designated region. This position requires outstanding leadership, communication, and operational skills, as well as knowledge of snow removal equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Weather Monitoring: Track weather conditions, forecasts, and potential snow/ice events.
  • Team Communication: Coordinate with employees, sub-contractors, and temporary workers to establish event start times and verify timecards.
  • Training & Development: Provide on-site and pre/post-event training and coaching to team members.
  • Operational Coordination: Manage logistics including dispatch boards, electronic route sheets, event packets, trucks, equipment, and materials for all teams.
  • Assignment & Oversight: Assign tasks to team leaders with site maps, budgeted hours, key notes, and time-sensitive objectives.
  • Field Supervision: Monitor ongoing operations during storms, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality standards are upheld.
  • Incident Management: Oversee property damage assessments, ensure photos and incident reports are submitted to HR.
  • Post-Event Review: Document and review storm event details with teams, providing in-field coaching and counseling as needed.
  • Communication: Regularly update the Snow Dispatcher on equipment issues, personnel matters, and progress on assigned properties.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all properties are completed to Lucia Landscaping’s high standards at the conclusion of each event.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in snow removal operations, including snow plowing, salting, and equipment such as front-end loaders and bobcats.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required).
  • Chauffeur’s license and Michigan DOT Card (preferred).
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, stand for extended periods, and perform other physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a professional and positive attitude.
