Imaging Film Rm Librarian, PRN

Location: Mishawaka, IN
Schedule: As needed position. Estimated 1 shift every 6 weeks at minimum work up to 40 hrs/week to cover PTO, with advanced notice.

About the role

The Imaging Film Room Librarian receives, sorts, indexes, and files radiology images and related departmental materials in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role responds to requests for imaging records, provides approved information, and dispatches images while maintaining accurate tracking and documentation. The position also performs general clerical duties and ensures the integrity, confidentiality, and security of imaging records.

What you'll do

  • Upholds the organization's mission, core values, and all applicable patient safety, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides prompt, courteous customer service to physicians, departments, and external customers in person and by phone.
  • Receives, processes, and routes imaging requests, orders, and faxes accurately and efficiently.
  • Retrieves, dispatches, and tracks imaging materials, maintaining accurate documentation in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Produces and prepares duplicative and digital images for clinical use, conferences, and tumor boards.
  • Maintains the integrity, security, and confidentiality of imaging records and legal files, including PACS reconciliation and external image

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure / Certification

  • CPR Certification required.

Experience

  • Previous clerical, medical, or public contact experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with minimal tolerance for error.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, legal guidelines, and imaging studies.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment related to the release of images and confidential information.
  • Ability to accurately enter data into computer systems.

Working Conditions and Other Requirements

  • Frequent communication with physicians, physician offices, nursing units, surgery, insurance companies, and law offices.
  • Assigned hours, shift start times, and days of work may vary based on departmental and organizational needs.
