We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to support a busy Human Resources team with leave administration and employee benefits. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys process-driven work, excels at managing multiple priorities, and is passionate about providing exceptional employee support.
This role is heavily focused on Leave of Absence (LOA) administration, employee communication, benefits coordination, and maintaining accurate documentation in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable handling a high volume of administrative tasks while delivering outstanding customer service.
Position Overview
The Benefits Specialist will serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding leave and benefit-related questions while coordinating with internal teams and third-party administrators to ensure timely and accurate processing. Success in this role requires exceptional organization, strong follow-up skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Leave Administration & Benefits Support
  • Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), COBRA, and other leave-related programs
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators to ensure timely processing of leave requests and benefits
  • Track leave cases, maintain accurate documentation, and monitor important dates and deadlines
  • Investigate and resolve benefit and payroll-related issues in partnership with HR, Payroll, and external vendors
  • Assist employees with benefit eligibility, enrollment, life event changes, and general benefit inquiries
  • Support annual open enrollment activities and employee benefit education
Employee Service & Administration
  • Serve as a primary resource for employees by providing professional support via phone, email, and internal communication platforms
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
  • Manage multiple administrative priorities while ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up
  • Assist with special projects and additional HR or Benefits initiatives as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in Benefits Administration, Leave Administration, or Human Resources
  • Strong working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, STD, LTD, and employee benefits
  • Experience partnering with third-party leave or benefits administrators
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills
  • Experience with HRIS systems; UKG experience is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
