Job description

About the team
The Zillow Group Benefits Team is a skilled, collaborative team that delivers on our Benefits Promise and Mission. We are in the middle of an exciting multi-year transformation of our leave ecosystem - implementing a new leave vendor, modernizing our Workday configuration, and building toward a future where our team can focus on the complex, human moments that matter most.
Zillow Group's benefits promise support and security for every unique individual and family who chooses to work at Zillow. We're committed to designing benefit programs that create a sense of belonging, represent our dynamic, innovative, inclusive culture, and care for our community through every chapter of life's incredible journey.
About the role
This part-time Leave of Absence Specialist will report to the Benefits Director and serve as a subject matter expert in complex case management and ADA compliance. You will work closely with our LOA and disability vendor, HRBPs, managers, and people legal to ensure that leave cases are handled accurately, with care, and in compliance across multiple states.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage complex and escalated leave of absence cases, including FMLA, ADA/ADAAA, STD, LTD, state-mandated leaves, military leave, caregiver leave, domestic partner leave, and parental leave.
  • Support the ADA interactive process: evaluate restrictions, explore accommodation options, and document each step
  • Coordinate stay-at-work and return-to-work accommodations such as reduced schedules, travel modifications, job restructuring, and equipment.
  • Respond to multi-state inquiries on employee eligibility.
  • Ensure claims, pay, and job protection align with policy and law.
  • Partner with HRBPs and managers to help them navigate leave processes.
  • Escalate systematic issues, discrepancies, or compliance risks to the Leave Program Manager, accompanied by documented findings.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $40.00 - $63.80 hourly. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia the standard base pay range for this role is $38.00 - $60.60 hourly. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.
Who you are
  • Customer-obsessed. You show up as a strategic partner to the business while caring deeply for employees in difficult moments.
  • Grounded and trustworthy. You surface risks early, say "I don't know yet" when needed, and invite feedback from partners when the work is ambiguous.
  • Agile. You adapt quickly as laws, vendors, or priorities shift, resetting stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborative. You know when to pull in additional members of your team, People Legal, managers, and HRBPs.
  • Effective in Cloud HQ. You thrive in a remote environment, working asynchronously, communicate clearly in writing, and build trust without in-person presence.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in Leave of Absence administration with a focus on complex case management
  • Expert knowledge of FMLA, ADA/ADAAA, PWFA, STD/LTD, and multi-state paid leave laws
  • Experience supporting the ADA interactive process and coordinating workplace accommodations
  • Experience managing day-to-day LOA vendor relationships
  • Workday HRIS experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex leave rules clearly to employees and managers
  • Comfortable working with autonomy in a fast-paced, asynchronous environment
  • This is a part-time role of approximately 19 hours per week and is not benefit-eligible.

Please note that the above paragraph containing equity and salary language applies only to this role when filled on a full-time basis. This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position and is not eligible for equity awards.
