Position: Litigation Attorney

Location: Flint, MI (Or Bloomfield Hills, MI OR Detroit, MI)

Plunkett Cooney, one of the largest and most accomplished law firms in the Midwest, is seeking a litigation attorney to support attorneys in the Flint office. We are looking for a motivated attorney that can be available to begin supporting the office by handling matters, providing research, drafting documents and taking depositions. This position is not limited to Flint, geographically, and ideally, the candidate will be located in Flint with the possibility of working periodically in our Bloomfield Hills or Detroit offices.

Requirements:

  • Have at least 5 years of experience in a litigation practice
  • Deposition experience
  • Be proficient and independent handling litigation matters such as commercial litigation, premises liability, transportation, general negligence, property damage, construction and/or personal injury related
  • Prior work experience as a clerk for a judge or court of appeals preferred
  • Excellent research, legal brief writing and communication skills are required
  • General litigation motion writing and courtroom oral skills
  • General understanding of medical records
  • Working knowledge of Michigan Court Rules and Rules of Evidence
  • Working knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Comfort level with learning new computer software
  • J.D. from an ABA-approved law school
  • Be a member in good standing and active in the Michigan Bar
