Summary of Position
Under general supervision of the Director of Library Services, the purpose of this position is to provide support for a variety of Library departmental functions
Essential Functions
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.
  • Assists with various work assignments from as many areas of the Library as practical.
  • Assists in providing support for Library programs and services.
  • Assists with planning, preparing and working special programs or events.
  • Maintains library materials by shelving books, shelf reading, and straighten shelves as needed.
  • Maintains good employee relations through timely and accurate response to questions and concerns; responds to sensitive issues while maintaining complete confidentiality.
  • Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
  • Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) year of library or customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver's License.

Typical Working Hours
Approximately 12-15 hours per week
