Job description

Description:
  • When needed, forecast daily work and direct the daily tasks of the repair team
  • Regularly assist Team Lead with leadership responsibilities
  • Serve as an internal resource to other departments in planning and managing repair work
  • Act as a resource to other technicians to provide training and solve problems in areas of expertise
  • Handle escalated issues within assigned product set
  • Communicate with both internal and external customers, and vendors, to plan work and resolve issues
  • Perform repairs on various types of equipment including computers, printers, POS (Point of Sale) equipment, and hand-held mobile scanners
  • Follow all safety procedures while meeting established quality and efficiency standards
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical documentation (Standard Operating Procedures, Technical Drawings, and Schematics)
  • Evaluate and monitor repair processes and techniques and make recommendations for process and equipment changes that lead to gains in productivity and the quality of repairs
  • Responsible for basic soldering
  • Independently diagnose, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, facilitate solutions and resolve complicated repairs
  • Communicate technical information to technical and non-technical customers
  • Perform test programs and run benchmarks for battery and power measurements
  • Communicate and follow-through with internal customers to resolve any issues
Requirements:
  • 3+ years related experience as a bench or field repair technician
  • Associates Degree in Electronics; Computer Science; Information Technology or equivalent computer repair experience required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Demonstrated success working with minimal supervision; self-directed
  • Ability to lead and mentor others
  • Experience with computer software, printers, and/or scanners installation and configuration
  • Ability to repair laser barcode equipment such as Symbol, Intermec, and Honeywell
  • Component level soldering skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and translate knowledge to practical application
  • Mechanically inclined, solid understanding of how various technologies work
  • Fundamental understanding of PC architecture and components, i.e., CPU and memory
  • A+ Certification preferred
  • Background in POS (Point-of-Sale) repair experience is preferred
  • Basic Office Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
