What are legal temps?

Legal temps, also known as temporary legal professionals, are individuals hired on a short-term basis to assist law firms, corporate legal departments, or government agencies with specific projects or to cover staff absences. They may include attorneys, paralegals, or legal assistants and often work on document review, research, or litigation support. Legal temps provide flexibility and help organizations manage fluctuating workloads without the commitment of a permanent hire.

Both roles support legal operations but differ mainly in duration and employment structure.
