Job Description:

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and stewarding environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring that kitchen and food service operations run efficiently by supporting sanitation practices, handling dishware and kitchen equipment, and adhering to all safety and health codes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate all kitchen machinery safely and correctly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of all dishwashing equipment and using correct chemicals.
  • Sweep and mop the kitchen and back-of-house floors; ensure proper signage is used (e.g., wet floor signs).
  • Refill and stock soap, glove, and napkin dispensers.
  • Collect tarnished silverware.
  • Manage waste bins by checking and replacing garbage bags as needed or requested.
  • Clean deep fryers, kettles, grills, ovens, walls, tiles, and drains as instructed.
  • Ensure all sanitation and health codes are followed.
  • Assist with food plating, kitchen equipment cleaning, and coffee brewing as needed.
  • Provide equipment and supplies to kitchens, bars, and banquet areas.
  • Lift and carry food items up to 50 pounds over distances of up to 100 feet.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work and storage areas including kitchen, walk-ins, halls and stairs.
  • Immediately report and handle any workplace accidents, no matter how minor.
  • Foster positive working relationships and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
