Description
Facility Management Corporation, known as "FMC Ice Sports," was formed in 1992 to deliver high quality ice sport facility management and operations, as well as ice-based programs that benefit our communities and promote interest in both hockey and skating. We have established a record of quality operations and have grown to be the largest operator of public arenas in the United States. FMC operates 25 public ice-skating arenas across the state of Massachusetts in long-term partnership agreements with the Commonwealth and various municipalities as well as educational institutions.
FMC is looking for Junior Instructors to work under the general supervision of each program's Supervisor and assist Lead Instructors. This position assists groups and related lessons and/or program hours for FMC learn to skate, learn to play, and/or, figure skating programs. General responsibilities will include interacting with children and adults, and performing various customer experienced related duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Effectively uses customer service skills to control customer interactions.
  • Educates the public to the habits and attitudes of safe ice activities.
  • Enforcement of all rules regarding rink policies and operating procedures.
  • Executes policies and procedures professionally and accurately.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for patrons and staff.
  • Responsible for completing all tasks assigned by the Program Supervisor or Instructor in a timely fashion.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings.
  • Performs any other related or similar duty as assigned.

This is a part-time position. Most FMC programs are held in the afternoon, evenings, and on weekends. Dates and time for programs may vary.
Requirements
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Previous experience assisting or teaching skating classes is preferred.
  • Applicants must be able to ice skate proficiently. Figure skaters should have achieved and passed ISI Freestyle 3 or USFS Freeskate 3. Hockey players should have participated in multiple years of formal league play.
  • Must be 16 years of age to apply.

Compensation: Pay based on experience and industry-related qualifications. Training rate $16-20 per hour based on instructor level. Base pay range upon completion of training $18-22 per hour for instructor-related work. Pay rate for non-instructor related work is $16 per hour.
