Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Rockville, MD. As a Junior Structural Engineer, you will assist in the planning, design, and execution of various civil engineering projects, contributing to the development of sustainable infrastructure.

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data and assess project requirements
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyze data to support project designs
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers on various aspects of civil, structural or related engineering projects
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports, cost estimates, and technical documentation
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with team members and clients
  • Support the development and implementation of quality control procedures
  • Stay updated on local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution
  • 0-4 years of experience in civil engineering projects
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and GIS software, along with experience in Revit, is preferred
  • Experience with ENERCALC and STAAD - Pro is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Basic understanding of local building codes and regulations
  • Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and environmental regulations
Additional Information

Proposed Salary: $65,000-$85,000 annual, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Sheladia Associates, Inc. has made the best effort to accurately represent the pay range for this position, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and any applicable cost of living data relevant to the position/candidate.

Other compensation: opportunities for annual increase and bonus, and other types of bonuses.
