Job description

Junior Operations Specialist

Rackner | College Park, MD (Hybrid) | Full-Time

The Role

Rackner is hiring a Junior Operations Specialist to support internal operations as we continue to grow.

This is a hands-on, hybrid role with a strong emphasis on consistent in-person support. You'll help keep day-to-day operations running smoothly—supporting office coordination, onboarding logistics, and core operational processes.

You'll work closely with the operations team on a set of recurring responsibilities, along with additional support tasks based on team needs. This role offers exposure to how a growing company operates behind the scenes and is well-suited for someone who is organized, dependable, and follows through.

What You'll Do

You'll support a range of operational tasks across the business:

Office Operations

  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
  • Support day-to-day office coordination and organization
  • Help ensure the office remains functional and well-maintained

IT Equipment & Logistics

  • Ship laptops and equipment to new hires
  • Coordinate returns from offboarding employees
  • Track inventory and maintain accurate records

Onboarding Support

  • Help prepare new hires for day one (equipment, access, coordination)
  • Support onboarding checklists and internal tracking

Client Reporting Support

  • Assist with Monthly Status Reports (MSRs) across contracts
  • Format documents, collect inputs, and ensure accuracy

Intern / Fellowship Program Support

  • Help coordinate the Rackner Fellowship (internship) program
  • Support scheduling and day-to-day logistics

Operations & Administrative Support

  • Execute tasks from the Operations Board in Monday.com
  • Assist with invoicing support and basic data tracking
  • Help maintain internal documentation and file organization
  • Support occasional event logistics and travel coordination

Marketing Support (Light)

  • Assist with drafting and scheduling LinkedIn posts or blog content as needed

What Success Looks Like

  • Work is completed accurately and on time without frequent follow-up
  • Office coordination, onboarding, and equipment logistics run smoothly
  • Client-facing documents are clear and well-formatted
  • Operational tasks stay organized and on track
  • Issues are identified early and communicated clearly

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in operations, administration, coordination, or similar hands-on roles (including school, internships, or transferable experience)
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Comfortable supporting in-person operational tasks when needed
  • Able to manage assigned responsibilities and follow through reliably
  • Able to clearly communicate and format information in documents and email
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to federal contracting or regulated environments
  • Experience with tools like Monday.com (or similar)
  • Experience with onboarding logistics or equipment tracking
  • Familiarity with invoicing or basic financial processes
  • Experience in structured or process-driven environments (e.g., military, logistics, operations support)

Work Environment

  • Hybrid role based in College Park, MD
  • Expectation of regular in-office presence (at least 1–2 days per week, often more depending on operational needs)
  • Some responsibilities require consistent in-person support, such as handling mail, coordinating equipment, and supporting on-site activities
  • As the team and office presence grow, in-office needs may evolve over time

Who This Role Is a Good Fit For

  • Someone who wants exposure to how operations work inside a growing company
  • Someone who prefers structured, tangible work with clear ownership
  • Someone who is reliable and comfortable supporting both in-office and remote tasks

Who This Role May Not Be a Fit For

  • Candidates looking for a fully remote role
  • Candidates focused on strategy, program management, or leadership positions
  • Candidates who are not available for consistent in-person support

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • Weekly pay schedule
  • Home-office equipment plan and remote work support
  • Fitness and wellness reimbursement
