Summary

We are currently representing a reputable civil engineering firm specializing in transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Northeast. With a growing backlog of bridge and roadway design work, the team is seeking a Senior CAD Designer with 5+ years of experience in MicroStation, InRoads, and AutoCAD to support civil and structural design teams. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a civil/highway/transportation setting and be capable of producing detailed construction drawings with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support civil and bridge design teams in producing accurate CAD drawings for public infrastructure projects

  • Use MicroStation, InRoads, and AutoCAD to develop detailed plans, profiles, and sections

  • Work on a variety of civil scopes including site planning, roadway layout, grading, utilities, and stormwater systems

  • Assist with drafting for structural/bridge engineering including new bridge design, culverts, rehabilitation, and land rating

  • Incorporate redlines and feedback from engineers into drawing sets and ensure adherence to CAD standards

  • Develop traffic control plans, utility relocation layouts, and construction support documentation

  • Contribute to BIM/Revit models and support 3D rendering/visualization where needed

  • Maintain drawing version control and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to meet submittal deadlines

  • Help mentor junior CAD staff and assist in implementing drafting best practices

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional CAD design/drafting experience in civil, bridge, or transportation projects

  • Proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads, and AutoCAD (Revit and 3D CAD a plus)

  • Prior experience supporting engineers on civil site or DOT transportation projects

  • Familiarity with NJDOT, NYSDOT, or other public agency CAD standards preferred

  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with engineers and project managers

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management

  • Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, CAD, or a related field preferred
