The Manager, IT Operations is a strategic technology leader responsible for overseeing a multi-discipline team spanning virtual desktop infrastructure, systems administration, systems engineering, business application management, and process automation. This role drives IT strategy, organizational capability, and cross-functional business partnership-setting direction and holds teams accountable while enabling the business to operate securely, efficiently, and at scale. This is a leadership role focused on vision, execution, and people development, not hands-on technical delivery. Some travel may be required.

What You'll Be Doing

Strategic Leadership

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Strategic Oversight

  • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for the organization's VDI program, ensuring alignment with enterprise IT goals and business priorities.

  • Set the long-term vision for virtual desktop delivery, championing innovation and modernization initiatives in partnership with the VDI Lead.

  • Ensure VDI investments are optimized for performance, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and end-user experience across all business units.

  • Own accountability for VDI security posture, compliance alignment, and risk management in coordination with the Cybersecurity team.

  • Remove organizational blockers, allocate resources, and sponsor cross-team initiatives that advance VDI capabilities.

Systems Administration & Engineering Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of Systems Administrators and Systems Engineers, providing direction, coaching, and performance management.
  • Oversee the health, availability, and performance of core infrastructure systems including servers, storage, identity, and cloud environments.
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence-establishing standards, enforcing change management discipline, and reducing unplanned outages.
  • Partner with the Engineering team to align systems architecture with the organization's growth, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure teams are properly resourced, upskilled, and positioned to support the pace of organizational change.
  • Provide strategic oversight of network administration and firewall policy management, balancing security, performance, and accessibility while supporting the organization's evolving architecture.

IT Business Partnership & Application Management

  • Oversee IT Business Partnerships for assigned business units, translating business needs into technology solutions.

  • Lead efforts on business application configuration, administration, and optimization across the technology portfolio.

  • Gather and document requirements from business stakeholders and drive solution design through cross-functional collaboration.

  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts for department-specific applications, ensuring accountability and value delivery.

  • Drive adoption, training, and change management initiatives for new tools and platform rollouts.

  • Ensure all business applications are integrated, secured, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with key business owners to build and execute a custom technology and support strategy aligned to their operational needs.

IT Services Catalog - Ownership & Delivery

  • New App Evaluation: Security review, integration assessment, cost analysis, vendor vetting. (IT Business Partner Led)

  • Process Automation: Workflow design, integration development, RPA, API connections. (IT Business Partner + Ops)

  • Reporting & Analytics: Dashboard creation, data extraction, BI tool support. (Request-Based)

  • Training & Adoption: Tool training, documentation, change management, user enablement. (IT Business Partner Led)

  • Strategic Planning: Technology roadmaps, department IT strategies, budget planning. (IT Business Partner + Leadership)

  • Compliance Support: SOC 2, regulatory audits, evidence collection, control documentation. (Cross-Functional with Security)

Strategic Planning & Compliance

  • Represent department technology needs in IT planning, roadmap development, and budget prioritization.

  • Develop and maintain department-level technology roadmaps aligned to business growth objectives.

  • Support SOC 2, PCI-DSS, GLBA, and regulatory audit activities through evidence collection and control documentation.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the Cybersecurity team to ensure all systems meet security and compliance standards.

  • Contribute to IT budget planning and manage departmental spending against approved allocations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient and effective operation of the department.

Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience spanning infrastructure, systems administration, and technology leadership.

  • 3+ years in a management or senior leadership role overseeing multi-discipline IT teams and cross-functional programs.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong working knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure platforms (Citrix, VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop, or equivalent).

  • Broad understanding of enterprise systems administration-Windows Server, Active Directory, identity management, cloud infrastructure, and storage.

  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles, infrastructure architecture, and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune.

  • Familiarity with workflow automation platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier, or similar RPA/integration tools).

  • Working knowledge of API integrations, BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and data extraction methods.

  • Understanding of IT security principles, access controls, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI-DSS, GLBA, NIST).

  • Experience with IT service management (ITSM) platforms and ticketing systems.

  • Relevant certifications such as Citrix CCP-V, VMware VCP, Microsoft Azure, ITIL, or equivalent are a plus.

  • Proven ability to lead through others-setting vision and hold multi-discipline teams accountable without being in the hands-on technical execution.

  • Track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing IT teams across varied disciplines.

Compensation Range

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000 - $155,100 annually.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by multiple factors like job-related skills, experience, and state of residence. Physical Requirements

This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting (approximately 95%), repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
