What is an integrations manager?

An Integrations Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing and managing the process of connecting different software systems, platforms, or applications within an organization. Their main goal is to ensure that disparate systems work together seamlessly, facilitating efficient data flow and business processes. They often coordinate with IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to plan, implement, and troubleshoot integrations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to communicate across departments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an integrations manager?

To thrive as an Integrations Manager, you need a solid understanding of systems integration, API management, and project management, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with integration platforms like MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Microsoft Azure, as well as certifications in relevant technologies, is often required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help distinguish top performers in this role. These skills ensure seamless technology integrations, minimize disruptions, and drive successful collaboration across technical and business teams.

What are some common challenges faced by an integrations manager when coordinating cross-departmental projects?

About the Role

The Integrations Manager owns the movement of data and technical connections between the company's business systems. This role is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, documenting, and improving the integrations connecting NetSuite, Shopify, Celigo, 3PL providers, CRM platforms, and other business applications. Individual applications have their own functional owners; the Integrations Manager is accountable for how those platforms connect, exchange information, process transactions, and operate together as an integrated architecture.

The ideal candidate has strong NetSuite development knowledge, deep Celigo experience, a technical understanding of Shopify, and strong experience with APIs, webhooks, and system-to-system integrations.

Responsibilities:

Integration Ownership

  • Own the technical integrations and movement of data between business systems, including NetSuite, Shopify, Celigo, 3PL providers, and CRM platforms.
  • Monitor integration health, troubleshoot failures and synchronization issues, and maintain data integrity across platforms.
  • Improve the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of existing integrations.
  • Evaluate new integration requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.

NetSuite Development & Integration

  • Develop and maintain NetSuite SuiteScript, workflows, saved searches, and custom records supporting integrations.
  • Understand NetSuite transaction processing, record relationships, and underlying business logic.
  • Understand NetSuite OneWorld and multi-subsidiary architecture.
  • Understand NetSuite APIs and integration methods, including REST, RESTlets, and SuiteTalk.

Shopify & Commerce Integrations

  • Own the technical movement of information between Shopify, Celigo, NetSuite, and connected systems.
  • Understand Shopify orders, customers, products, inventory, locations, and fulfillment.
  • Work with Shopify APIs and webhooks supporting integrations.
  • Troubleshoot synchronization and transaction issues between Shopify and downstream systems.

Celigo

  • Own the technical configuration and development of Celigo integration flows.
  • Design, build, test, maintain, and troubleshoot Celigo integrations.
  • Develop mappings, transformations, filters, hooks, and business logic within integration flows.
  • Monitor integration performance and establish appropriate error handling and alerting.

APIs & Webhooks

  • Develop and maintain REST API and webhook-based integrations.
  • Understand endpoints, payloads, JSON, authentication, transformations, and error handling.
  • Troubleshoot API failures and system-to-system communication issues.
  • Support secure and scalable integration patterns as new systems are introduced.

Documentation & Integration Governance

  • Maintain clear technical documentation for integrations, APIs, webhooks, scripts, and system dependencies.
  • Create and maintain architecture and data-flow diagrams showing how systems communicate.
  • Establish consistent naming and documentation standards across integrations.
  • Maintain documentation that allows integrations to be supported without relying on tribal knowledge.

Development & Release Management

  • Follow structured development, testing, release, and deployment practices.
  • Apply version control and change-management practices to integration development.
  • Validate changes and integration dependencies before production releases.
  • Maintain rollback and recovery procedures for critical integrations.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with Accounting, Supply Chain, Logistics, E-commerce, Retail, and Customer Service.
  • Translate business requirements into technical integration requirements.
  • Support Accounting and Supply Chain with technical investigation of transaction, inventory, and fulfillment issues.
  • Clearly communicate technical issues, dependencies, risks, and recommended solutions to stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in systems integration, ERP development, application development, or a related technical field.
  • Strong hands-on NetSuite development experience.
  • Experience with SuiteScript, workflows, saved searches, custom records, and NetSuite backend functionality.
  • Strong understanding of NetSuite OneWorld and multi-subsidiary environments.
  • Strong understanding of NetSuite transaction and record structures.
  • Hands-on Celigo integrator.io experience.
  • Experience designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting Celigo integrations.
  • Experience integrating Shopify with NetSuite.
  • Strong technical understanding of Shopify APIs, webhooks, orders, inventory, locations, fulfillment, customers, and products.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, authentication, data transformation, and system-to-system communication.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex integration and data-flow issues across multiple applications.
  • Experience documenting technical architecture, integrations, APIs, and data flows.
  • Understanding of version control, testing, release management, and CI/CD principles.
  • Experience working with ERP, e-commerce, 3PL, WMS, CRM, or similar enterprise application integrations.
