Job description

About the Role:
In 2026, the Intelligent Building Platform & BMS (IBP) Manager role transcends traditional BMS engineering by serving as the strategic "brain" of the facility's digital ecosystem. While requiring the technical core of a BMS Engineer, this position focuses on managing the software layer that integrates BMS, IoT sensors, and enterprise IT systems into a single, proactive platform. The manager oversees data orchestration, predictive analytics, and tenant experience apps to drive the client's sustainability and operational goals.
What You'll Do:
Strategic & Technical Responsibilities
  • Platform Orchestration: Manage the client's "Single Pane of Glass" platform that aggregates data from systems such as HVAC, lighting, elevators, etc. for portfolio-wide visibility.
  • Legacy-to-Cloud Migration: As needed, participate in transitioning of legacy on-premise BMS hardware to cloud-connected, IoT-enabled operations.
  • Data Analytics & FDD: Utilize Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) and AI-driven machine learning to move from reactive maintenance to automated, predictive operations.
  • IT/OT Integration: Partner with corporate IT to ensure cybersecurity compliance per the client's cyber security policies in place for all connected building devices.
  • Sustainability & ESG: Implement demand-based energy controls and real-time carbon tracking to meet Net-Zero roadmaps.
  • Occupant Experience: Assist in integrating platform data with workplace apps to automate "just-in-time" cleaning, meeting room comfort, and flexible lighting based on real-time occupancy.

What You'll Need:
Qualifications & Core Skills
  • Engineering Core (required): 7+ years of experience in BMS/HVAC controls (Tridium Niagara N4, Schneider EcoStruxure, Siemens Desigo, KODE, or ICONICS).
  • Software Proficiency (desired): Experience with SQL, Python, or API-based integrations (REST/GraphQL) for data movement between building systems and cloud platforms.
  • Protocol Expertise (required): Mastery of BACnet/SC, Modbus, and MQTT for IoT device communication.
  • Ability to translate complex technical data into executive-level KPIs (OKRs) for senior leadership.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Network Expertise (required): Working knowledge of network architecture (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi) and cybersecurity compliance in building systems.
  • Hands-on experience working with IP-based devices and cloud-based platforms.
  • Experience with integration of IoT sensors for energy, occupancy, air quality, etc.
  • Familiarity with sensor calibration, connectivity (LoRaWAN, Zigbee, Bluetooth, etc.)
  • Experience in working with 3rd party MEP and Technology vendors.
  • Knowledge of basic financial concepts (i.e. Budget, invoice, purchase order).
  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science.
