Job description

70% - Reception & Customer Service
  • Greet and assist visitors, faculty, staff, students, and guests.
  • Answer, screen, and route phone calls and inquiries.
  • Provide information and direct visitors to appropriate offices or personnel.
  • Maintain a welcoming, professional front desk environment.
  • Assist with guest hospitality and meeting support as needed.
20% - Administrative Support
  • Perform general clerical duties including filing, scanning, copying, data entry, document preparation, and mail distribution.
  • Assist with labels, mail merges, table tents, and other office materials.
  • Monitor and support conference room readiness.
  • Assist with supply inventory and office organization.
10% - Projects & Operational Support
  • Assist staff with special projects and assignments.
  • Assist with mail, deliveries, guest parking processes, and other operational tasks.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned in support of the office's mission and operations.
,Student Assistants provide customer service, reception, and administrative support while helping maintain a professional and welcoming office environment. The Provost Office Student Assistant serves as the first point of contact for visitors, faculty, staff, students, and university partners entering the Provost Office. Through their work, student employees gain hands-on exposure to administrative operations, project coordination, communications, event planning, and executive-level support.
This position requires availability to work outside normal office hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) for department-hosted special events. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of the KU Campus and will have the availability to work at least two hours per shift and to work over break and the summer periods. 
The anticipated start date for this position is at the selected candidate's earliest availability, preferably no later than Monday, 9/14/2026.
