Job description

Associate General Counsel

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid) | Type: Full-Time | Compensation: $250,000 – $275,000

About the Role

Our client — a fast-scaling, AI-driven technology company in the advertising measurement space — is seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel to join their legal team as the organization enters a significant phase of growth. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that will serve as a trusted legal partner across the entire business.

The AGC will own a broad portfolio spanning commercial contracts, privacy and data protection, regulatory compliance, employment, marketing, and strategic partnerships. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, this person will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and business judgment — not just legal expertise.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as primary legal point of contact across business units, supporting day-to-day legal needs for Sales, Product, Marketing, HR, and Operations
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements including master service agreements, SaaS contracts, technology partnerships, and enterprise customer deals
  • Lead and manage the company's global privacy program, including compliance with CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, COPPA, and other applicable U.S. and international data protection regulations
  • Partner with internal teams to assess new uses of personal data and ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices
  • Advise on advertising, IP, consumer protection, accessibility, cybersecurity, and content regulation matters
  • Develop, maintain, and improve legal forms, policies, standard terms, training materials, and public-facing documents
  • Provide legal analysis on applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidelines across a broad range of subject areas
  • Support U.S. and international business partnerships, regulatory matters, and compliance initiatives
  • Build trusted relationships across the organization and create scalable processes to improve legal function efficiency
  • Manage outside counsel relationships domestically and internationally

    What You Bring

  • 15+ years of combined in-house and/or major law firm experience in a relevant practice area
  • Strong commercial contracts background with mastery of SaaS, technology, and enterprise service agreements
  • Deep expertise in U.S. and global privacy law, including hands-on experience with CCPA/CPRA and GDPR compliance programs
  • Excellent legal and business judgment — you know how to assess real-world risk and translate it into clear, actionable guidance
  • Outstanding drafting and negotiation skills; you write tight, business-friendly contracts and know when less is more
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment — without hand-holding
  • Strong communicator: you can explain complex legal issues in plain language to non-lawyers and executives alike
  • Experience managing outside counsel in both domestic and international settings
  • Familiarity with the consumer insights, advertising, or marketing technology industry is a plus
  • Active license to practice law in California (required)

    Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $250,000 – $275,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our client offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • 100% employer-covered Medical, Dental, and Vision for employees; competitive dependent coverage
  • Stock options
  • 401(k)
  • Generous PTO policy
  • Paid Maternity/Paternity Leave
  • Life Insurance and Disability Insurance
  • Health FSA and Commuter FSA
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance / Counseling Services
  • Travel Assistance Program
  • Team events and fully stocked kitchen
