To thrive in Full Time Ministry, you generally need a strong foundation in theology, biblical knowledge, and pastoral care, often supported by a relevant degree and denominational credentials. Familiarity with church management software, online communication platforms, and event planning tools is valuable. Outstanding interpersonal skills, empathy, and effective communication help build trust and foster spiritual growth within the community. These skills and qualities are crucial for effectively leading, mentoring, and serving congregations while managing diverse ministry responsibilities.

What are some common challenges faced by individuals in full-time ministry, and how can they be managed effectively?

Individuals in full-time ministry often encounter challenges such as balancing personal well-being with the demands of serving a congregation, managing diverse expectations from community members, and maintaining healthy boundaries between work and personal life. Effective management includes setting clear boundaries, seeking regular mentorship or peer support, and prioritizing self-care to prevent burnout. Many ministry professionals also benefit from ongoing training and collaboration with colleagues to share best practices and navigate complex situations together.

What is full time ministry?

Job description

FULL-TIME MINISTRY RESIDENT | FAITH PROMISE CHURCH
The Faith Promise Church 24-Month Residency is a structured, full-time leadership development experience designed to prepare future ministry leaders for long-term impact in the local church.
This is not an internship. Residents serve as full-time ministry team members, leading volunteers, executing ministry initiatives, and contributing to strategy — while also participating in structured leadership development and theological formation.
We are looking for men and women who sense a clear call to ministry and are ready to be developed, stretched, and formed as leaders.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Real Ministry Work
Residents will:
  • Lead and develop volunteers
  • Execute weekly ministry responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver ministry initiatives
  • Participate in cross-functional collaboration
  • Contribute to systems and process improvement
  • Complete major ministry projects
  • Execute a strategic capstone project in Year Two

You will not observe ministry. You will help build it.
Intentional Leadership Development
Each resident participates in a cohort designed to grow you in:
  • Team leadership and collaboration
  • Theology and our core beliefs
  • Professionalism and operational excellence
  • Understanding our mission and vision
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Sustainable health and long-term growth

Development time is scheduled and protected. Growth is expected.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for candidates who:
  • Sense a clear call to ministry leadership
  • Align with the theology and values of Faith Promise Church
  • Demonstrate humility and coachability
  • Show initiative and follow-through
  • Value teamwork and unity
  • Take ownership of results
  • Desire long-term health and sustainability in ministry

This residency requires both spiritual maturity and professional discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent ministry experience)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (volunteer or professional)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Alignment with Faith Promise Church mission, values, and Statement of Faith
  • Ability to commit to the full 24-month program

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION
This position is a full-time, non-exempt role with an expected schedule of 40 hours per week. Benefit offerings include Medical Insurance, Health Savings Account, 403b Retirement, Life Insurance, Dental, Vision, Accident, and Critical Illness coverage. Residents also accrue paid Vacation and PTO time. Compensation is determined based on education and experience.
FAITH PROMISE VALUES
Team members at Faith Promise are committed to live out, and help others live out our Values:
  • Love God
  • Love People
  • Discover Purpose
  • Win Our World
