Job description

The FSQA Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and company standards. This role provides leadership and guidance to FSQA Technicians, manages quality systems, and collaborates cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement in food safety and product quality. The FSQA Supervisor plays a key role in audit readiness, corrective action implementation, and team development. This position also serves as a backup for record reviewers, ensuring timely and accurate documentation review.
Job Duties:
  • Supervise FSQA Technicians across all levels, ensuring consistent execution of quality and food safety programs.
  • Oversee daily quality checks, inspections, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Review production and quality records for accuracy and completeness; serve as a backup for record reviewers as needed.
  • Lead investigations into non-conformances, customer complaints, and audit findings; develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and use of laboratory and quality equipment.
  • Maintain and update FSQA documentation, including SOPs, HACCP plans, and training materials.
  • Facilitate internal audits and support external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics; identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, sanitation, and R&D teams to resolve quality and safety issues.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to FSQA staff.
  • Ensure compliance with FSMA, GFSI, GMPs, allergen control, and other applicable standards.
  • Support product trials, process validations, and new product launches from a quality perspective.
  • Promote a culture of food safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing quality assurance, including supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, FSMA, GFSI, GMPs, and other food safety regulations.
  • Experience with record review, audit preparation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive results.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
