Job description

We are looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator to join our growing Team! 

The Health & Safey Coordinator supports and maintains workplace safety programs for VEGA Americas, Inc. and Grieshaber Precision Americas.  This position assist in ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting a positive safety culture, and supporting day-to-day safety operations. This role includes assisting with training, audits, documentation, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.  Other duties may be assigned.

What you'll do:

  • Create and implement safety plans/programs in accordance with OSHA Standards.
  • Train employees in worksite safety practices by promoting and leading a site culture where safety is ingrained as a core value.
  • Assist with safety inspections of the production floor.
  • Perform employee and written safety program audits.
  • Investigates accidents and near misses.  Provides corrective actions.
  • Maintain chemical inventory list. 
  • Creation and training of JSA and LOTO assessments.
  • Trains new employees on JSA for their respective areas.
  • Ensure SDS sheets are current and up to date for all departments.
  • Primary trainer for hazard communication related to new and internal transfer of employees. 
  • Assist with maintaining OSHA 300A log, report electronically through OSHA annually.
  • Assist with monitoring subcontractors' safety and compliance.
  • Ensure that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
  • Coordinate scheduling for quarterly emergency response team (ERT) meetings.
  • Manage direct seller and field service PPE kits.
  • Assist with annual fire and severe weather drills
  • Manage first aid, hazardous waste, battery recycling and biohazard programs and service providers. 
  • Handles requests for certificate of insurance (COIs) for internal & external customers.
  • Maintains insurance compliance within third-party safety sites. (ISN, Avetta, Veriforce, etc.)
  • Assist with the management of safety documentation within third-party safety sites.
  • Assist with the research and development of safety training topics.
  • Assists with scheduled employee safety audits and plant inspections.

What you need

  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • OR a combination of education and experience related to the position
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification preferred or willingness to obtain
